We’re proud to announce that Lily Catt has been named the inaugural recipient of the Apollo Bursary, created to support emerging talent at Emil Dale Academy. Lily began her BA (Hons) Musical Theatre training with us this September, following two successful years on our Sixth Form BTEC course.
Lily shone as Serena in our 2025 production of Legally Blonde at The Factory Playhouse Theatre, delivering a vibrant, confident performance full of infectious energy that lit up some of the show’s most iconic moments. It followed her ensemble appearance in 2024’s The Wizard of Oz, where she also made a memorable impact.
The Apollo Bursary was established by local residents Tony and Deena Carter as a gesture of encouragement and recognition, inspired by their experience of Emil Dale Academy’s presence in the Letchworth community.
Moved by the energy of student life and the sounds of rehearsals filling the air, the Carters chose to create something lasting—a bursary named after Apollo, the Greek god of music, performance, and light.
We’re incredibly grateful to Tony and Deena for their generosity and belief in what we do. Lily’s commitment, growth, and positive spirit make her a truly deserving first recipient—and the Apollo Bursary will no doubt be a fantastic source of support as she embarks on this next phase of her training.
Congratulations, Lily. We’re honoured to continue guiding you toward your future in theatre.
