Emil Dale students shine in West End Competition

We’re proud to share that several of our Sixth Form and CertHE students recently shone in the Grand Final of West End Calling, one of the UK’s leading nationwide musical theatre competitions for young performers.

Following rounds of auditions and live performances across the country, the competition culminated at the Arts Theatre in London’s West End, where our students performed in front of a panel of industry professionals including Aimie Atkinson, Sarah O’Connor, Maisey Bawden and Jordan Shaw.

Tyler Murdock was awarded Senior Rising Star for her powerful performance of “I’m Here” from The Colour Purple, while Alfie Flynn was named Senior Runner-Up after singing “Past Is Catching Up To Me” from The Great Gatsby.

We also saw standout performances from CertHE students Maria Zureiqi and Jack Williams. Maria performed “How To Return Home” from Our First Mistake and shared that the competition “was an incredible experience”. Jack performed “Words Fail” from Dear Evan Hansen and has since accepted a place on our full-time BA (Hons) Musical Theatre course.

We’re incredibly proud of all the students who represented Emil Dale Academy with talent, professionalism, and passion on a West End stage. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work, and it was a truly memorable day for all involved.
