We’re delighted to announce that Emil Dale Academy BA graduate Taila Halford has joined the West End cast of The Devil Wears Prada, taking over the role of Emily - the sharp, stylish and fiercely ambitious assistant made famous by Emily Blunt in the original film.
Now running at the Dominion Theatre, The Devil Wears Prada is one of the most talked-about musicals in the West End, with direction and choreography by Olivier and Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell (Legally Blonde, Kinky Boots) and a score by Elton John.
Taila steps into the role with a wealth of professional experience behind her. Her previous theatre credits include Patty Di Marco in School of Rock (Asia Tour), Jellylorum in Cats the Musical, and she spent the summer as Ensemble / Cover Maizy in Shucked at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.
“This is a hugely exciting moment for Taila,” said Emil Dale, founder of the Academy. “Taking over an iconic role mid-run requires professionalism, versatility and presence, and we’re so proud to see her bring all of that and more to the stage.”
As Taila makes her West End principal debut, we’re thrilled to see another EDA graduate stepping confidently into the spotlight at the highest level of the industry.
Congratulations, Taila - the entire Emil Dale community is behind you.
