Private SINGING LESSONS
Private Singing and LAMDA / Acting lessons are for 30 minutes on a Saturday or Sunday (dependant on if you are a West End Excess Cambridge or Hitchin member) and are scheduled around our members’ normal West End Excess session. Lessons can be booked termly and are £20 a week (*note this is a termly commitment, so if you miss a week, you are still required to pay for the lesson) or can be booked ad-hoc, and are £25 a session. We cannot always guarantee availability on an ad-hoc slot. You can also do a rotation of one-week LAMDA / one-week Singing lessons – these lessons are £20 a week and is a termly commitment. You could also do lessons every other week (one week on, one week off). These lessons are £25 a session. LAMDA exams are an additional cost, which varies depending on the level of exam grade that you are taking.
As mentioned above, the lessons are scheduled around your West End Excess session. We rotate lesson times so that it is as fair as possible to all of our students. This may mean that some weeks you are given a “convenient” lesson time, and other weeks you may not. Students are welcome to wait in the Emil Dale Studios café rather than go home and come back in between their sessions.
WHAT DO YOU LEARN IN YOUR 1:1 LESSONS
LAMDA is an internationally recognised qualification where you learn specific pieces of text/material to pass exams. Exams are graded from Grade 1 to Gold Award, and you can gain UCAS points, which can go towards university applications. Go to https://www.lamda.org.uk/examinations for more information.
If you want just an acting lesson to work on audition preparation or general acting, this is available also in these sessions.
In singing, you will learn singing technique to help with: breath control, support, range, pitch and toning. We can assist with exams and audition preparation. You can work on a variety of songs and use these lessons to expand your repertoire.
WHAT YOU NEED TO PREPARE FOR YOUR 1:1 LESSONS
Please try to bring material that you want or need to work on.
If you are doing LAMDA exams, you will be given material that is suitable for the grade you are taking. You must bring this every week.
For singing lessons, you can bring material that you want/need to work on which can be of your choosing. If you are having regular lessons, the teacher may suggest repertoire for you to learn. You must bring sheet music with you every week.
HOW DO YOU BOOK 1:1 LESSONS
Email firstname.lastname@example.org requesting the lesson you would like, if you would like it termly or ad-hoc and the date you are requesting.
All West End Excess Hitchin PDP2 students are offered a free singing lesson and a free acting lesson each week. These are 20 minute slots and come at NO EXTRA COST. To secure a PDP2 free 1:1 lesson, members must email on the Monday before the weekend of their desired lesson to request a slot. These are then given on a first come, first served basis.
